Habitheque-River Alive! Independence Seaport Museum

River Alive! is a 4,000-square-foot exhibition at the Independence Seaport Museum, delving into the Delaware River watershed’s complexities and the science behind it. Designed to make the museum a hub for watershed research, the exhibit features hands-on activities and site-specific art, engaging visitors while showcasing the work of 23 project partners.

Aardvark Studios collaborated with the Designer and Creative Machines to create shop drawings for the project, fabricating all the interactive elements that enable participation in the science activities. We also managed the installation, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for visitors. The exhibition invites visitors to explore their connection to the watershed and its living system.

Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center-The Hatchery

Aardvark Studios collaborated with artists and craftspeople to create an interactive exhibit at the Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center in Philadelphia. Funded by grants, this installation serves as the first freshwater mussel restoration facility within the Delaware River watershed, offering innovative educational opportunities.

Our work included fabricating and installing semi-transparent divider walls, designing information kiosks and seating, and creating an interactive tile wall where visitors can trace plant shapes from the watershed. Aardvark Studios played a key role in blending artistic expression with environmental education in this “site-specific living enclave.”

The Pennsylvania Civil War Road Show

The Pennsylvania Civil War Road Show commemorated the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War with a 53-foot double expandable trailer, transformed into a 1,000-square-foot interactive exhibit. This traveling museum toured all 67 Pennsylvania counties, educating visitors and encouraging them to share their personal Civil War stories through a custom photo booth.

Aardvark Studios worked with the Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission and the PA Civil War 150 Committee to create this unique museum-on-wheels. From fabricating the trailer to managing the tour, we brought history to life, ensuring the Civil War’s legacy continues to resonate across the state.

Faith and Liberty Discovery Center Sculpture

In late 2020 and early 2021, Aardvark Studios completed a monumental 40-foot-tall sculpture for the Faith and Liberty Discovery Center on Independence Mall in Philadelphia. This installation, our largest to date, was entirely fabricated in-house using thermoformed Corian, showcasing our ability to tackle large-scale projects and overcome significant challenges.

The complex design required innovative fabrication techniques, including custom-built equipment to accommodate the sculpture’s unique demands. The result is a stunning piece that highlights our technical expertise and commitment to pushing the boundaries of creative fabrication.
